Now a Htcpedia user named ‘MagLite‘ has posed another Video which shows Calculator and Internet Explorer Running on the HD2.
Have a look:

A very popular Site’s Administrator has leaked the information about a Windows Phone 7 Series ROM for HTC HD2. He has provided snaps of the HD2 running WP7S, but that doesn’t mean anything. It could even be simple pictures being viewed via the HD2’s Album Application.

But there’s some credit to the Source as it’s been put up by the Admin of that Forum.

WP7S is still a long way from release and if HD2 is the 1st Device to run it, looking at the current sales of the HD2 in the US, those sales will certainly get even a higher boost due to this.

Is it really true or not? We’ll know soon enough now!

*Update* One of the Moderators at XDA has Confirmed this! Now we all wait with bated breath!

*Update 2* Now updated with Video.

It’s been said that at this moment its not possible to revert back to Windows Mobile 6.5 once you install this WP7S ROM as the Bootloader and AMSS (Advanced Mobile Subscriber Software) have been modified!

Check out Video, more snaps and link after the break.

Windows Phone 7 Series is going to have an entirely new and very unique User Interface. Microsoft calls this the Metro UI. The speciality of this UI is that it focuses on the Content rather than graphical elements like Icons.

Information is shown in big bold letters and the Start menu is composed of a concept called ‘Live Tiles’.

Microsoft disappointed everyone by leaving out any existing Windows Mobile Phone from getting a WP7S upgrade. But that doesn’t mean you can’t try out the new UI on your current Windows Mobile.

Many Modders and Designers out there are trying to get the Windows Phone 7 experience onto your WinMo device.

The Best WP7S theme I came so far was one by ‘arley12’ an XDA Forums member.

His Theme is based on the Throttle Launcher Shell UI.

Check out the Theme in action, its almost indistinguishable from the actual WP7S Interface :

The Theme is still not 100% complete and is a work in progress. Here’s what we have so far :

- Scrollable home page and apps launcher
- Animated real contacts on home page
- Animated pictures tile with different thumbs from user selected folder
- Animated "Me" tile for owner info (customizable photo)
- Animated contacts tiles for People hub
- People hub
- Games hub
- Ability to select an Xbox LIVE Avatar (animates on home screen)
- Five color patterns for the tiles (Blue, Red, Green, Dark Blue, Yellow)
- Custom taskbar with a clock (can revert back to standard WM taskbar)
- Custom WP7S soft keys (can revert back to standard WM keys)
- Battery indicator(Graphics by HDOwner)
- Pin favorite apps on the home page

How to Download and Install :

Tools needed :

Throttle Launcher 1.0.1

WP7S Theme

Instructions :

1.) Download and Install Throttle Launcher.
2.) Download the ZIP file from above link and move the extracted WindowsPhone7 directory on your phone to \Program Files\ThrottleLauncher\Setups\
3.) Go to Start menu and start ThrottleConfig. Select Windows7 in Themes.
4.) Go to Start menu and start Throttle Launcher

Windows Phone 7 SDK was made available at MIX10. The best thing was that this SDK was Free for everyone. But developing applications for a Device which is not available yet would’t be possible. So for developers to build their applications without an actual device Microsoft included a Windows Phone 7 Emulator.

Now this Emulator was locked down. It did not have any applications except Internet Explorer! So people interested in trying out all the features of Windows Phone 7 were left disappointed.

That is until now, someone has successfully managed to Unlock the Full Emulator for Windows Phone 7.

Here’s how to make the Emulator work :

Download the Dev tools (Visual Studio 10 Express) from Microsoft

Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (Optional Download Only if the above gives any error)

1. Download the unlocked bin from Here

2. Rename the file to WM70C1.bin

3. Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\WindowsPhone\v7.0\Emulation\Images

4. Rename the existing WM70C1.bin to WM70C1_old.bin

5. CopyPaste the Downloaded bin file

Run the Emulator by starting a new project and simply Running it!

Windows Phone 7 Series was announced yesterday. One of the major point to be taken into consideration is the Hardware Specification. The minimum Hardware requirements for a Windows Phone 7 is actually not so minimum.

The previously leaked Chassis 1 Requirement mentions a minimum of 512Mb RAM, a Qualcomm 1Ghz Processor, WVGA Screen, MultiTouch Support among others.

There are a few devices on the market which currently meet those specifications. The HTC HD2 is one of them and it does have a large userbase. So everyone is hoping that the HD2 gets a Windows Phone 7 Update.

Will the HTC HD2 get a Windows Phone 7 Update? Well, probably! Here’s why :

1. The Demo Unit at MWC ran the same processor as HD2, the Qualcomm Snapdragon. HD2 meets all the minimal requirements. (4 Point MultiTouch support on the HD2 is still unknown)

2.HTC Russia had previously Tweeted about the HD2 getting a Windows Phone 7 Upgrade which they later retracted.

3. T-Mobile US has hinted theres something big coming for the US Version of HD2. This point makes it almost sure the HD2 will get an update.

The T-Mobile HD2 is yet not launched, and after the MWC announcement its pretty obvious that no one will buy the T-Mo HD2 now just to see Windows Phone 7 Series launching 6 months later and not supporting it!

Also note that the T-Mobile HD2 has 1Gb ROM which was set as a minimum requirement for Windows Phone 7.

4. Now take a look at a Screen Grab from the Windows Phone 7 Commercial (Forward to 6:51:30) :

Windows Phone 7 Series was just announced Officially at the Mobile World Congress 2010. This new version of Windows Phone marks the beginning of a new era. Windows Phone OS has been totally re-vamped and built up from ground up!

The new Interface is inspired from Microsoft’s highly successful Zune Interface. Everything is super slick and tightly integrated with each other. The look is simplistic yet feature rich.

Microsoft has roped in lots of Carriers and Hardware Partners to promote its new Windows Phone 7 Series. Some of the major Carrier Partners include AT&T, Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange, SFR, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telstra, T-Mobile USA, Verizon Wireless and Vodafone, while hardware partners include Dell, Garmin-Asus, HTC, HP, LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and Qualcomm.

The Start screen majorly consists of what’s called as “Live Panels“. These panels constantly update Live data from services such as Facebook and Windows Live. Browsing throughout the UI is full of pan in and out animations which look terrific.

Peoples Hub

The Peoples Application is where the Facebook integration with the the OS at System level really shines. Real time live data is pulled from your Facebook account and people with whom your most frequently interact are shown in a slick interface along with their most recent status updates. Again every information be it Contacts or Profile Pics are stored on the cloud.

XBox Live integration seems a major step in bringing Gaming to a Mobile level and connecting Microsoft’s highly successful XBox Gaming Console.

Microsoft Office integration too is worth appreciating. The way in which every thing fits together seamlessly seems unbelievable. Cloud Syncing will play a major role in keeping all your Documents and Data synced.

The Music and Video Application is completely taken off a Zune. So now technically Every Windows 7 Phone is a Zune Device.

The real awesomeness of this amazing new Mobile Operating System can only be fully understood by looking at it in action.

The few drawback I noticed were :

No Flash Support (initially)

No Multitasking Support (support via Push Notifications)

Devices will be costly as there’s a pretty high Hardware Requirement.

Expected to Launch Late 2010 Holiday Season

Microsoft has really made an impact this time and Windows Phone as a platform is going to be huge! Details on what Microsoft’s plans on 3rd Party Application Support is still unannounced as of now. But one thing is for sure, Microsoft has produced a Winner this time!
