WP7 NoDo Update leaked, possible HD2 Port Coming Soon

Posted by Tanmay | Posted in HTC HD2, Windows Phone 7 | Posted on 19-02-2011

The NoDO update, which is the upcoming firmware update for Windows Phone 7 bringing in the much required Copy-Paste functionality has been reportedly leaked by a site called 911sniper.

This leak contains an unreleased NoDo update for the CDMA version of HTC 7 Pro! Its been confirmed by dumping the Firmware that this leak actually contains the Copy-Paste code and is infact the NoDo release!

While its impossible to make use of this ROM for any other Official WP7 device due to lack of a custom bootloader, there’s a very high possibility that the HD2 will get this working in a matter of weeks. Hopefully this is the case, as if you’re the owner of a slick WP7 handset, it’s a bit embarrassing not to be able to copy and paste your high score at http://pt.partypoker.com on a 2011 phone if you are a poker fanatic like me.

Right now the only people who can get this working on the HD2 is the DFT Team. Only they seem to have the proper reloc tools required to port this successfully.

If you are a Developer and need to tinker around with the ROM check out the following downloads:

Angry Birds (3D?) for Windows Phone 7 Confirmed

Posted by Tanmay | Posted in Software, Windows Phone 7 | Posted on 16-02-2011

Angry Birds, a game that took the mobile world by storm, is undoubtedly on the top of everyone’s favorite game list. Rovio has made Angry Birds available for almost all major platforms including PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android.

Due to some legal issues Rovio was skeptical to release Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7. The reason being Microsoft using the Angry Birds logo during WP7 launch without finalizing the agreements with Rovio.

But its now been confirmed that Rovio is indeed planning to launch Angry Birds on Windows Phone 7.

In an exclusive interview with pocket-lint.com, the devs at Rovio said that they’re working on it! The recent Nokia-Microsoft deal seems to have expedited Rovio to give WP7 a serious thought.

He further added that Angry Birds will be launched in 3D! Although he didn’t mention on which platform or device it’ll debut on, it still seems a pretty exciting idea!

While there’s still no official release date announced, its assuring to know that we’ll be able to shoot some pigs on our Windows Phones!

Windows Phone 7 *Mango* Update Rumored Features include IE9, Multitasking Support

Posted by Tanmay | Posted in Rumors, Windows Phone 7 | Posted on 11-02-2011

Microsoft’s next update codenamed ‘NoDo’ is yet to be released but that doesn’t bother people from finding out whats next!

The next major Windows Phone 7 release has been codenamed Mango and which is said to be the 1st major upgrade that WP7 will receive.

The rumored updated featureset include:

  • IE Mobile 9 with full HTML 5 Support
  • Multitasking Support for 3rd Party Apps
  • Integration of Twitter directly into the People’s Hub (just like Facebook)

While the NoDo update is set for an early March release, the Mango update will take a while and is expected to get released around September.

Microsoft does seem slow in delivery updates as compared to other major players. Lets just hope that the recent Nokia-Microsoft alliance expedites the development process and leads to Microsoft releasing more frequent updates!

Posted by Tanmay | Posted in Rumors, Windows Phone 7 | Posted on 10-02-2011

There were some strong rumors going around that Windows Phone 7 will be launched on 7th Feb. But now its past that and there’s still no official word from Microsoft about the update.

Now according to some European carriers its been come to known that the NoDo update won’t be released until March. Microsoft is however expected to confirm officially the release date for the next update at the upcoming Mobile World Congress on 14th Feb.

If multiple sources are to be believed the new release date for the next update is rumored to be March 8th. Its been said that due to a last minute change, Microsoft needed to re-test the update pushing its release back by 2-3 weeks.

WPCentral has news that an Official Samsung spokesperson has confirmed the release to be around early March.

The question asked directly to Samsung was:

Q: When will the update for Windows 7 Phone?

Samsung A: Probably early March, we will confirm at the Mobile World Congress in mid-February.

All we can do now is that hope that the wait was worth it and Microsoft adds some exciting new features!
